Canberra’s Australian War Memorial is Australia’s number one attraction ahead of the Sydney Opera House according to influential travel website TripAdvisor.
The Memorial ranked 17th among some of humanity’s greatest architectural and cultural creations in TripAdvisor’s comprehensive Top 25 Landmarks list, beating out the Siene and Milan Duomo cathedrals in Italy, the magical Gaudi Basilica of the Sagrada Familiain Barcelona, and Rio de Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer in the process.
“One of the best places in the world to remember fallen soldiers without glorifying war in any way. Truly moving,” says TripAdvisor of the Memorial.
Described simply as “Another must do”, the Opera House scraped in at No.25.
Perth’s Kings Parks and Botanic Garden overlooking the city and Swan River came in a surprising sixth when TripAdvisor dropped its Top 10 parks list earlier in the week.
