Gourmet Grilling Goes Simple, Friendly at London’s Flesh & Buns

But, there are joints around the world who know the art of meat on flame. In fact, there’s a fun new one wedged in between Covent Garden and the Seven Dials in London.

Flesh & Buns is a sister restaurant to the popular nearby Ramen joint, Bone Daddies. While it boasts a wide ranging menu of light Asian fair, I headed there for its titular selections.

Once you’ve ordered your basket of simple white buns split down middle, you can order from a list of meaty fillings — ranging from simple chicken to crispy duck and more expensive beef selections. The flesh arrives with a selection of veggies and sauces, and you’re left to make your own little sandwiches however you like.

The dining atmosphere is communal, with long tables lining the main floor — a feature familiar to anyone who’s visited a Japanese noodle bar.

The cost is affordable, depending on what you order to wedge betwixt your buns. Opt for the beef selections, and you’re paying by the ounce. Stick with fowl, and you’re out the door for less than £25.

Flesh & Buns is a fresh, fun and casual dining option for locals and tourists — even those Americans longing for a little simple BBQ action.
