Google is reading the emails you send and receive via your Gmail account in order to tailor advertising to you, the company has revealed.
An update to Google’s terms of service has made it clear that it is “scanning” your emails for a variety of reasons, though none of them are sufficient enough to not mind that they’re spying on the users.
The updated terms of service reads: “Our automated systems analyze your content (including emails) to provide you personally relevant product features, such as customized search results, tailored advertising, and spam and malware detection,” reads the paragraph.
“This analysis occurs as the content is sent, received, and when it is stored.”
Google has stated in the past that those who have signed up for a Gmail account have already opted in to the company’s practices, therefore meaning that they have every right to monitor your emails. Insert Orson Welles quote here.
