OkCupid Asks Users to Avoid Firefox Due to CEO’s Gay Marriage Stance

OkCupid has posted an incredible letter to its users asking them to avoid using the Mozilla Firefox browser to access the site, due to Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich’ anti-gay marriage stance.

The statement from OkCupid reads: “Equality for gay relationships is personally important to many of us here at OkCupid. But it’s professionally important to the entire company.”

Mozilla has responded to OkCupid’s statement with a statement of its own, which reads: “Mozilla supports equality for all, including marriage equality for LGBT couples.

“No matter who you are or who you love, everyone deserves the same rights and to be treated equally. OkCupid never reached out to us to let us know of their intentions, nor to confirm facts.”

OkCupid has yet to acknowledge Mozilla’s response, though the social media backlash against Mozilla is already in full swing, as Twitter and Facebook users join OkCupid in its calling out of Brendan Eich’s beliefs.
