Is There Another Winter Storm Coming After Blair? Upcoming Snow Forecast

Many are concerned about another winter storm as Blair continues to pelt the United States with snow and ice. Indeed, early models predict that the next winter storm will be coming sooner than later, forming some time later in the week around Thursday, January 9. Several weather experts are not yet sure about the severity of the storm or how long it will linger, but the formation of the storm is likely. Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming winter storm, which has the potential to be called Winter Storm Cora (as named by The Weather Channel).

What is the next winter storm after Blair?

The next winter storm is expected to being developing on Wednesday, January 8, and turning into a system with potential snowfall in Texas and Oklahoma on Thursday. From there, the storm will move in an eastern direction closer to the Ohio Valley.

As reported by weatherman Ryan Hall on Monday, early prediction models indicate that a snowstorm will hit Texas near Houston with several inches of snow and sleet on Thursday. A low-pressure trough from the northwest is projected to combine with moisture coming from the Gulf of Mexico to create the storm on Wednesday.

While he says that it’s still too early for specifics as far as the amount of snow is concerned, it looks like it will impact states from Arkansas to North Carolina on Thursday, centering around Tennessee. By Saturday, the European model predicts snowfall of around six inches to be possible from the center of Texas to Arkansas. According to weather expert Max Schuster (or Max Velocity on YouTube), the GFS model says that snow could fall in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, and Kentucky by Friday.

While Hall doesn’t believe that a more severe blizzard will develop, Brian Shields (otherwise known as Mr. Weatherman on YouTube) is monitoring an area in the Gulf of Mexico close to the Texas coastline where another Southern system could develop by Monday next week on January 13.
