Taco Bell Recruits Pete Davidson to Apologize for Its Breakfast Menu (But When Is He Going to Apologize for Being So Unfunny?)

Taco Bell has a new face for its latest ad campaign: none other than Saturday Night Live alum Pete Davidson.

Yes, the 28-year-old comedian (whose star really rose when he dated Kim Kardashian for nine months) is now appearing in a promo for the Tex-Mex chain…in which he apologizes for the breakfast menu.

“Sometimes, we go too far,” he says to the camera as he walks into one of the brand’s fast-food locations. “I have, and that’s why Taco Bell has hired me to make an apology for them.”

He then turns to an employee behind the register and tells her, “Go ahead, say you’re sorry.”

“Huh?” she responds.

Davidson goes on to explain that Taco Bell “went a bit crazy with its breakfast” in the past. Now, the chain is turning to “tasty, simple food” like breakfast burritos, quesadillas, and “crunchwraps” filled with eggs, meat, and cheese.

“We honestly over-innovated in breakfast,” Sean Tresvant, Taco Bell’s chief brand officer, told CNN in an exclusive interview. “When you look at today’s consumer and the [fast food] breakfast business, it’s about familiarity and it’s about comfort.”

Breakfast burritos are definitely a comfort food for us. Mission accomplished?

If you’re still unconvinced, there’s one more promo featuring The King of Staten Island star, which takes place in his dreams…where he’s again enjoying Taco Bell’s day-starters.

We can’t say Pete Davidson is the person to motivate us to eat Taco Bell (he’s even uglier than what happens to us after eating Taco Bell), but we have to admit, the cinematography in these ads actually makes these morning eats look appetizing.

Run for the border?
