Eating during pregnancy is no joke. If you’re in a relationship with someone who has ever been pregnant, you know a thing or two about how changing hormones can completely alter a woman’s diet. Some foods women can no longer eat or even smell unless they want to get nauseous and sick. Others are strange foods they were never drawn to before, but now can’t get enough of. And others are extremely odd, borderline gross food combinations you couldn’t imagine enjoying before or after pregnancy is over. The latter apparently is such a big deal in Germany that Burger King even launched a line of pregnancy burgers to appeal to these strange, momentary palates.
Well, to be honest, the line of “Pregnancy Whoppers” that has taken the internet by storm was actually a Mother’s Day promotion to celebrate the strange flavor combinations women crave during pregnancy. But the burgers were actually available to order. And, since the internet doesn’t let anyone forget, we have the images to prove it.

And while your idea of pregnancy cravings might begin and end with pickles and peanut butter, the burgers available at Burger King in Berlin were much more out of control. The advertisement showed burgers with such gag-inducing combinations as whipped cream and pickles, ice cream and green olives, eggs and bananas, jam and cucumbers, fish sticks and applesauce, strawberry ice cream with french fries, bratwurst with chocolate syrup, and even currywurst and fried herring. They even had a raspberry torte made with multiple beef patties.
All jokes aside, if they ever brought these burgers to the US, we would definitely give them a try. It might make for an extremely gross taste test, but we’re game. What do you say, Burger King?
