By now, you know the name Volodymyr Zelensky, even if you can’t pronounce it yet. The moniker belongs to the president of Ukraine, and the man who bears it has become an unlikely hero-cum-celebrity for his humanity, compassion, and unflappable strength in the midst of the Russian invasion.
Everyone knows the basics about Zelensky: he’s a law school graduate who gave up the traditional path to become a comedian and actor – and then pivoted to politics. He’s a husband and a dad. And he doesn’t conform to the standard dress code for leaders.
Just take his now trademark olive green T-shirt, which he has been seen wearing during virtual addresses to his homeland and other nations. He even donned it while speaking to the U.S. Congress as well as the Canadian and European parliaments.
The shirt, which features the Ukrainian Armed Forces symbol, is currently available for purchase at online retailers like Amazon, eBay and Etsy.
One Etsy seller, who goes by the name Wayne, has sold the Ts to buyers in the U.S., UK, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Singapore, Australia, and Portugal. He has pledged to donate half of the shirt’s profits to Ukraine aid efforts.
As for Zelensky, we guess dude just likes being comfortable, especially in these uncomfortable times? The olive green T-shirt is an unconventional choice, but he’s an unconventional guy. And now he can add “fashion icon” to his already-eclectic resume.
