In life, it’s important to have goals. Perhaps your goal is to graduate from college. Maybe it’s to start a family and purchase your own home. There’s a chance your goal is to have a career you’re proud of and the ability to provide for your family. But it’s unlikely that your goal is to visit the most bars in twenty four hours ever. But that’s exactly what one English man’s goal was and he actually accomplished it.

His name is Matt Ellis, and while you were probably mowing your lawn or grilling dinner, he was setting the world record for the most bars or pubs visited in 24 hours.

The man, from Cambridgeshire, England, visited 51 bars between Sunday evening and the next morning to break the Guinness World Record which had previously been 50. But he didn’t just have to visit each pub to break the record, he actually had to drink at each one. He had to drink at least 125 milliliters (around four ounces) at each bar for it to count. In an effort to stay reasonably sober, the man also drank orange juice and diet cola throughout the journey.

While the folks at the Guinness World Records still need to verify Ellis’ new world record, he’s happy that the attention his record attempt will help raise awareness about the tough time bars and pubs have had during the pandemic. And while we haven’t seen any news about how drunk he got, we can still assume he took at least a few days off to recover from what was likely an epic hangover.
