We’ve all heard the sad statement shouted at us from the front seat as we jumped up and down with glee driving past the big, yellow arches.
“You got that McDonald’s money?” your mom asked, knowing well that your 8-year-old self definitely did not have money to pay for your food, keeping the car moving as you sulked back into your seat, stomach now growling a demand for chicken nuggets.
As we’ve all grown up, it looks like the tables have not only turned, but have also flipped upside down, as a job listing has hit the internet searching for a chicken nugget connoisseur.
B&M, one of the largest retail stores in the United Kingdom, recently began a search for one lucky person willing to taste test a new slew of fresh and frozen food products, including chicken nuggets. While it seems like a relatively easy job, there are some important forms of experience needed to fill out that job:
Getting the 20 share box of nuggets from McDonald’s and keeping them all for yourself.
Being the first in the office kitchen when someone says there is cake.
That time you tripped and fell at a buffet and saved the plate before yourself.
Going to an event or party because there is free food.
You value the importance of a fish finger sandwich in life.
You can conduct a power point presentation on the reasoning behind curly fries being nicer than chips.
Well I’m pretty sure everyone reading this can check every one of those experience points off, so everyone is now one step closer to becoming a chicken nugget connoisseur, right?
Well…..there are two slight catches.
So, many of you are probably asking the question: “How much money does this job offer?” That’s the thing, it doesn’t, technically. Instead, the one person chosen for the position will receive £25 ($34.67) vouchers monthly to spend at any B&M food retailer. While the company will be taking the tester’s feedback very seriously for what to improve, the lack of true pay and the fact that the position will be temporary is enough to throw some people off.
Now, here’s the worse news for most of you reading this: you have to be located in the UK to be eligible for the job, which is situated in Merseyside, North England. To all of my American readers, my condolences on the loss of the possibility of getting this job. While there is still technically time to fly to England and apply for the job, the “pay” certainly won’t help offset the costs of the journey.
So to everyone in the UK reading this, just know we here in the US are super jealous you’re getting paid for something we love to do at least three times a week. As jealous as we are, however, we do wish all of you applicants luck in getting the job and hope you enjoy your time taste testing the chicken nuggets, as well as whatever other foods the retail giant has you try.
