An Alright, Alright, Alright Thanksgiving Gesture by Matthew McConaughey

Picture it: An Oscar winner knocks on your door wanting to give you a turkey. For a number of residents in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, this dream became a reality, courtesy of Matthew McConaughey.

The handsome actor is a spokesperson for Wild Turkey Bourbon, a Kentucky-based brand of whiskey whose main distillery is located in Lawrenceburg. As part of the company’s early Thanksgiving initiative, residents of the town were gifted with succulent Butterball turkeys. These turkeys had to be delivered to their homes, of course, which meant enlisting the help of none other than McConaughey himself – A request that he was seemingly more than happy to oblige.

He appeared at the Wild Turkey Distillery and announced that he and 250 volunteers were “going to deliver 4,500 turkeys to people around Lawrenceburg.” As if you needed more of a reason to love him, he also mentioned that it was his birthday. Really, what better way to celebrate your birthday than gifting unsuspecting people with holiday food?

A casually-dressed McConaughey, turkey in hand, was all smiles as he surprised a group of women who affectionately referred to themselves as the “Hot Mamas.” McConaughey quips that that’s the nickname he’s given his wife of five years, Camila Alves. As he entered the home, one woman shouted something we all probably would’ve said in a similar situation, “It’s a sexy man carrying a turkey!” A group picture was taken while everyone tried their best to compose themselves.

The group wished him a happy 48th birthday before revealing that they were “just talking about [his] Lincoln commercial.” After a little small talk, and a casual high five with one of the women, a pretty solid impression of McConaughey’s trademark “alright, alright, alright” was uttered by one of the fans which earned her a respectable clap from Mr. Alright himself. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and the star said his goodbyes to the enthusiastic group. They had definitely just experienced one of the most exciting moments of their lives.

Everything about the encounter was delightful. McConaughey and the Wild Turkey Distillery certainly made the Lawrenceburg residents’ Thanksgiving this year and we love them for it.
