There’s not much you can do during those cold few winter months in the year. You sit at home, watch some TV or perhaps read a book if you’re a part of that exceptional minority. One thing that can certainly take away that winter blues is a properly made winter cocktail. If you don’t know where to start, though, here are some helpful ideas for winter cocktails that are quite easy to make but extremely tasty. All you need to do is choose your favorite ingredients and sip slowly till you get properly wasted. The summer will be just around the corner, waiting for you to sober up.

New York Sour

The fact that you’re home alone, probably in your warm pajamas, doesn’t mean that you can’t pretend that you’re in one of the world’s largest cities with this great-looking NY drink. In order to make one New York Sour, you will need about 2 ounces of whiskey (choose the brand that you love), and 0.75 ounces of lemon juice and syrup each. Use the shaker to combine all these ingredients and finish up with some red wine float. It’s a great twist on the traditional whiskey sour recipe and one of the most popular winter cocktails.

Winter Margarita

If you enjoy a good margarita, there’s absolutely no reason not to try its winter edition. What’s the difference? Curiously enough, the only difference is the addition of egg white. So, you will need one ounce of tequila and one of mescal. Add lime juice to the mix and a little bit of simple syrup. As you can see, this is your regular margarita. One egg white in the mix will make all the difference. Use the shaker to combine all the ingredients, then add some ice and shake one more time. It’s done.

Penicillin

No, we’re not suggesting that you put a couple of antibiotics in the glass and drink them up. That isn’t really tasty. Penicillin is one of those famous winter cocktails that all true connoisseurs of whiskey know and love. For this drink, you’ll need two ounces of blended scotch and one ounce of lemon juice. mix it with half an ounce of honey syrup and ginger syrup and strain it into a glass. Usually, people use a double old-fashioned glass but if you don’t have one, use a regular, wide one. Once everything is mixed, add just a little bit of Laphroig scotch to make it into a proper Penicillin.

Spellbound Smash

For those of you who prefer more color in their winter cocktails, Spellbound Smash is the perfect drink. To start off, you’ll need half a lemon and 5-6 blackberries. Put them in the shaker and gently squeeze. Then you add bourbon, syrup and two types of bitters, Angostura and orange. To complete the cocktail, you will need to add one sage leaf, ice, and mix it all in a shaker. Pour it into an ice-filled glass and garnish it with some more sage leaves if you’re that kind of a person. If not, just enjoy the drink straight up.

Fireside

Obviously, nothing can warm you up better than fire, so this next cocktail is simply a must. To start things off, you’ll need a Grey Goose vodka (or a brand of similar quality) that you will pour into crushed rosemary leaves, maple and salt. After that, add some ice as well as freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice. Stir the mix (but don’t shake) and that’s about it. Use those rosemary twigs to decorate the drink if you plan on serving it somewhere.

Which one of these winter cocktails do you prefer? Have you tried them all?
