Professional League of Legends player Li “Vasilii” Weijun has revealed that he has taken a vow of abstinence, after “indulging in sexual pleasures” had affected his pro gaming career.
Vasilii, who plays League of Legends competitively for the Chinese eSports organization Newbee, revealed on weibo (via Slingshot eSports) that he had already “adjusted to abstinence” after realising that sex was affecting his ability to play League of Legends. Vasilli had been benched by his team in Week 6 of the League of Legends Pro League, with fans speculating that his removal from Newbee’s starting line-up was either as a result of bad performances or due to anger issues, with him having previously been criticized for smashing equipment and rage quitting in games.

While Vasilii was benched, the team’s new AD carry Lin “Lwx” Weixiang assumed his role, helping to defeat LGD Gaming and causing many to speculate whether or not he would take over Vasilii’s position permanently. However, Vasilii has now spoken out against these assumptions, claiming that the reason behind some of his recent poor performances is due to him having too much sex.

“Because I caught a cold before, I asked to be subbed out for the sake of the Club’s results,” Vasilii wrote. “The Club maintained its winning streak, so it wasn’t necessary for me to play, and I let myself indulge in sensual pleasures for a while.”
He continued: “This led to me playing poorly in solo queue, but last week we lost, so I started to adjust myself to a more abstinent lifestyle. After about two days, I had already adjusted myself (to abstinence). Those of you only watching the news shouldn’t be so quick to pass judgment on me. It’s incorrect. You can check on my results in Korean solo queue rather than take my word for it. I will continue to play and try to correct this matter.” Newbee has yet to respond to Vasilii’s claims.
