Hook up apps are the way to go in the second decade of the 21st century, there is no denying the numbers. Everybody has heard of Tinder, it is a cultural phenomenon that gets referenced as much as the most popular TV shows, yet it is not the only hook up app out there.

There are dozens of hook up apps with cool ides like Whim for instance, which doesn’t allow messaging at all and arranges dates just based on when the both sides mark they are free, in order to avoid the never-ending back and forth. But even though hook up apps are the main thing in dating now, it still is a limited market and only a few have the features and the number of users to be considered the best.

Since, for each Tinder, there is an Ashley Madison or Plenty of Fish which the users bash on their reviews. So don’t lose you precious time and see which hook up sites provide for the most value.

#5 Hook Up App – Bumble

The co-founder of Tinder, Whitney Wolfe, made Bumble after leaving the company, and it is one of those specialized hook up apps. Female experience driven one. The app basically functions like Tinder, but only the women have the ability to start up a conversation after they matched with a guy. If they don’t in a period of 24h, the match disappears, but the guys do have the option to prolonge the connection for another 24h if they really like the girl. This is the kind of female empowerment we can get behind as it takes some weight off our backs, and is a great way for guys not to feel sleazy when looking for a hook up.

#4 Hook Up App – Badoo

Badoo thrives on its old reputation of not strictly being a hook up app, rather a place to meet friends, which is ideal for people who feel that online dating or hooking up is a taboo. Which is exactly why the app has the most success outside of the United States, and why it has the largest user base. Even larger than Tinder. The “dating-focused social network” was founded in 2006, and it was basically the forerunner of online dating. Now the app is focused the most on advertising for its geo-based advantages, like connecting you to the people you bumped into in your everyday life, like the cute girl you saw on the subway. Which is really enticing.

#3 Hook Up App – Blendr

A geo-based dating site that managed to do what was though impossible in the heterosexual community as it is basically Grindr for straight people. 200 million of its user prove it is not. If you’re not familiar with the concept, the hook up app is designed to connect you with people in your proximity. The Blendr app slightly decreased the danger from predators and creepy guys by adding a membership fee and not asking for too much personal information. It is “powered by” Badoo, and the direct nature of it makes it the app with the most potential.

#2 Hook Up App – OkCupid

Ok, so OkCupid isn’t a hook up app per se, but this very famous online dating site has moved with the winds of the time and now offers its users the option to select whether they are looking for short-term dating and casual sex rather than a soulmate. So it is a hook up, and one that functions pretty dignified and efficient as it is based on the number of algorithms. It focuses less on the visual aspect of people, and more on the personality of the people you might end up with. It has around one million unique log ins per day so you might find a quality fuck buddy here pretty quickly.

#1 Hook Up App – Tinder

Tinder has become synonymous with online dating and the hook up culture, so naturally, it takes the first spot. The app was launched in 2012 and by 2014 it was registering around one billion swipes per day. Tinder is used in about 196 countries, which is almost all of them, and it’s truly the pinacle of hook up apps as it is easy, and intuitive to use. The only problem some may have with it is that you need to sign up for it through your Facebook profile, and there are still people who don’t have it. It seems the world isn’t bored with Tinder yet at all as THE hook up app is still on the rise.
