7 Great Memorial Day Cocktails

Memorial Day is a day full of parades, barbecues, and gatherings with family and friends. You could go the usual route and stock a cooler full of beer and wine coolers or you could show just how patriotic you are by making one of these Memorial Day cocktails.

Tito’s Chi Chi

Ingredients:

  • 6 ounces Tito’s Handmade Vodka
  • 12 ounces pineapple juice
  • 4 ounces Coco Lopez (or coconut cream)
  • 4 cups ice

Preparation:

Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend until smooth. Add more ice or more pineapple juice if necessary. Garnish extravagantly with umbrellas, fruit, and a plastic monkey.

Frozen Mango TitoRita

Ingredients:

  • 6 ounces Tito’s Handmade Vodka
  • 3 ounces orange liqueur
  • 8 ounces mango nectar
  • 10 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 ounce agave nectar
  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 3 cups ice

Preparation:

Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend until smooth. Garnish with cocktail umbrellas and a juicy lime wedge.

Sailor Salute

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 parts Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
  • 3 parts ginger beer
  • 1 cherry
  • 2 dashes of cherry bitters
  • Ginger candy
  • Mint Sprig

Preparation:

Build SJ and ginger beer over ice, top w dashes of Cherry bitters, garnish w/ cherry, mint sprig, and ginger candy.

Baby Bourbon Smash

Ingredients: 

  • 1 1/2 parts Hudson Baby Bourbon
  • 3/4 part simple syrup
  • 2 fresh lemon wedges
  • Fresh mint sprigs
  • Q Club soda

Preparation:

Muddle lemons, 4 – 6 mint leaves, and simple syrup in the bottom of an Old Fashioned/rocks glass. Add cracked ice, Hudson Baby Bourbon, and top with splash of club soda. Stir briefly to combine and garnish with a mint sprig.

Monkey Shoulder Smash

Ingredients:

  • 1 part Monkey Shoulder
  • 1/2 part fresh lemon juice
  • 1 spoonful of jam
  • Dash of sugar to taste
  • 2 dashes orange bitters

Preparation:

Add all ingredients to shaker. Shake well with ice. Strain into glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

Smoke & Fire Paloma

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 part Montelobos Mezcal
  • 1/2 part Ancho Reyes
  • 3 parts Q Grapefruit Soda
  • Squeeze of Lime

Preparation:

Using a lime wedge, wet the rim of the glass and salt half of the rim. Add ice, Ancho Reyes, Montelobos, and grapefruit soda. Squeeze a wedge of lime and discard. Garnish with a thin grapefruit wheel.

Classic Paloma

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Milagro Silver Tequila
  • 4 parts Q Grapefruit
  • Squeeze of lime
  • Lime wedge for garnish
  • Jalapeño-salt rim

Preparation:

To make jalapeño salt, finely dice a 1/2 inch slice of fresh jalapeño and add to 3 tablespoons salt (we used natural sea salt). Stir to combine and turn out onto a saucer or flat surface. Moisten the edge of the glass with a cut lime, and rim with salt.  Add ice, tequila, the squeeze of lime and top with Q Grapefruit. Garnish with a lime wedge.
