It’s hard to say what’s the right thing to say, write or type when somebody is experiencing a death in his or her family or circle of friends.
But this sure as shit isn’t it.
According to COED, a student recently emailed her professor, kindly asking him to take a quiz two days earlier than the scheduled date because she unfortunately had a funeral to attend at that time.
Here’s what she sent thanks to Reddit.
“Hello Professor. I was wondering if I could take Thursday’s in-class quiz that’s on the 20th on Tuesday the 18th instead. I have a funeral service to attend to morning of Thursday, so I will not be able to make it.”
And here was her professor’s response:
“Hi Ana. Please resend your email with a proper closing and a more relevant subject line. Thanks, Joshua.”

You know, there are times when being a grammar or spelling Nazi is necessary. Hell, just ask my editor every time I send him one of my posts.
But I’m pretty sure Joshua can eat a dick in this situation.
