Jaguar Classic Restores All-Time Masterpiece with “Reborn” E-Type

The Jaguar E-Type will forever have a spot on the automotive industry’s Mount Rushmore. Many call it one of the most beautiful cars in history. Some call it THE most beautiful car in history.

Obviously, the folks at Jaguar Land Rover are in the latter group. The automaker is celebrating the heritage of its most iconic car with the Jaguar Classic “Reborn” E-Type program. The first car from that effort will debut at the Techno-Classica Essen Show from April 5th thorough the 9th.

Jaguar Classic is offering an initial batch of 10 comprehensively restored Series 1 Jaguar E-Type models for sale direct from its purpose-built restoration facility in Coventry, UK. This is different from the nine XKSS supercars Jaguar “re-created” from scratch last year. These Jaguar Classic E-Types were original builds with original serial numbers circa the 1960s. These are cars recovered from obscurity and transformed into gorgeous time capsules of decades passed.

After the first restored car for Jaguar Classic (a 1965 Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe 4.2) appears at the Techno-Classica Essen Show, an initial batch of 10 restored examples of the E-Type will go on sale direct from the Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works HQ.

It’s safe to say the 10 cars for sale won’t be on the market for long, especially when you consider the nine XKSS versions sold old within days of news getting out on them — all sight unseen, and each for north of $1 million. And that amount was for cars that weren’t even street legal. The market life for all 10 of these E-Types should just about match the car’s 0-60 mpg time.

That’s about seven seconds, by the way.
