Spotlight | Billabong LAB x Warhol

If you’ve never heard of Billabong LAB, there is a good reason: it’s brand new. LAB is the new division of Billabong that collaborates with artists, musicians, designers, photographers and icons of surf, all in the name of surf. That means that these product iterations will take the vision of the great arts, but put it into clothes you can wear, and absolutely surf in.

Billabong did not hold back in their first initiative for LAB, and jumped right in with none other than the Andy Warhol collection. Now, one might ask, “Why Warhol?” A fair question if you were not familiar with a little film the artist created in 1968 called San Diego Surf, directed by Warhol and Paul Morrissey, and filmed in beautiful La Jolla, California.

The film wasn’t officially completed and released until 1995. More than ten years later, Billabong LAB is reminding us to see it, and wear the prints inspired by the film.
