Horizon Zero Dawn has proven to be a mega hit for Sony, with it being hailed as one of the best games of the year so far. A large contributing factor to its overwhelmingly positive reception was the strength of its world and character design, with its creators being commended for creating a totally believable post-post-apocalyptic world.
The Art of Horizon Zero Dawn highlights the immense amount of artistic talent behind the game’s visuals, with Paul Davies curating over 300 images, sketches and concept art from the game, along with commentary from the artists and creators. The book showcases the treacherous but beautiful world that heroine Aloy inhabits, along with detailed designs of the people and mechanical creatures living within it.
The amount of detail invested into the art behind the game is breathtaking, revealing the scope of developer Guerrilla Games’ ambition when it came to bringing its unique world to life. The Art of Horizon Zero Dawn allows a closer look at how its world, characters and creatures evolved throughout the development process, including Aloy’s transformation to the courageous warrior we see in the final game.
