Man is Tweeting Every Line From Harry Potter to Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan and JK Rowling have been butting heads on Twitter for a while now, with the newspaper editor / daytime TV show host most recently being ridiculed by the Harry Potter author after his confrontation with comedian Jim Jefferies on Real Time with Bill Maher. With JK Rowling being a certifiable national treasure and Piers Morgan not exactly being the most well-liked British TV personality around, it stands to reason that a lot of people are on the author’s side of this particular spat.

But while Rowling has been doing a pretty good job of taking Piers down a few pegs on social media, one man has risen up in order to truly take the omnipresent professional contrarian to the cleaners. That man is the manager of London’s Big Green Bookshop who, for the past few days, has been tweeting Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to Piers line-by-line.

Simon Key has sent out over 200 tweets to Piers containing lines from the first Harry Potter novel, with him planning to send out 32,567 in order to finish the book. His first, sent on Saturday, contains the famous first opening sentence from The Philosopher’s Stone:

Key then continued to send Piers chronological experts from JK Rowling’s debut Harry Potter book, causing many to question if the independent bookshop had set up a computer program in order to auto-tweet to the celebrity. Key dismissed these claims:

Big Green Bookshop has continued to tweet at Piers Morgan this morning, with Key showing no signs of stopping on his mission to force the Good Morning Britain host to read a Harry Potter book. When Sky News asked Key why he was sending the tweets, he replied: “I’m doing it because Piers clearly spends all day on Twitter staring at his timeline …  Obviously I’m sending it in bitesize chunks, which hopefully he’ll be able to cope with, rather than giving him the daunting process of reading a whole book.”
