The Pengest Munch is our new favorite YouTube series. Starring Elijah Quashie, who goes by the title of “Chicken Connoisseur,” the channel is dedicated to reviewing London’s lesser-known fast food restaurants, specifically those that sell chicken. While this wouldn’t be that interesting in and of itself, Quashie’s clear passion for chicken has really resonated with viewers, as has his acerbic take-downs of the restaurants he features.
Quashie, a 23-year-old retail assistant, has been active on YouTube for quite some time, but he has struck gold with his latest episode in which he reviews Tottenham’s Chick King and its underwhelming wings. Dressed in a shirt and tie, the fast food critic exhibits a legitimately impressive amount of knowledge regarding his specialist subject, even if the food on offer didn’t quite satisfy his taste buds.
The episode has seen Quashie attract a ton of new followers, with it appearing on YouTube’s list of top trending videos and racking up over 100,000 views in just two days. With his previous videos having averaged around 10,000 views, it seems that Quashie is finally on his way to carving out a living by virtue of his love for fried chicken.
Quashie’s talents have even been recognised by Father Ted and The IT Crowd creator Graham Lineham, who tweeted out praise for the amateur food critic to his 660,000 followers:
This is fantastic. Someone give this kid a regular TV spot https://t.co/IGwcmnVYPW
