Sometimes you have to let that booty call go to voicemail, son.
According to the Global Times, a driver known only as Mr. Jiang was given a 15-day “detention sentence” and fined over $300 for driving without a license after he crashed his car in the Chinese province of Shandong last week.
The reason why he didn’t have a license? You guessed it: Mr. Jiang only has one arm. And instead of keeping the hand attached to that one arm on the steering wheel or using it for the stick shift (yes, the one-armed man was driving a vehicle with manual transmission), police said Jiang admitted to them that he was using it to handle his cellphone at the time of the accident.
Despite the fact that this is the second time he’s been busted for driving without a license since March, Jiang still defended his ability to handle a stick shift while talking on the phone despite lacking a right hand and forearm.
“I am a good driver,” Jiang told a reporter. “I use my left hand to steer and shift gears.” He added that police wouldn’t have caught him if the accident hadn’t happened.
Our guess is that the police responded with something to the effect that the accident totally destroys his first argument that he’s a good driver.
