Maryland Cop Poses As Homeless Man, Admits To Being Cop, Still Busts A Bunch of Idiots

A Maryland police officer decided he would pose as a homeless man in order to catch people texting while driving and committing other violations…and that’s even with him admitting being a cop on the cardboard sign he was holding.

Patrick Robinson hung around the side of a highway dressed up in dirty clothes, holding a cardboard sign that read: “I am not homeless. I am a Montgomery County Police Officer looking for cell phone texting violations.”

Even with his confession in hand, Robinson and the other officers involved in the undercover gig were still able to catch numerous drivers texting while driving and not wearing a seat belt. All in all the officers handed out 56 tickets and gave 22 warnings.

The other tickets and warnings included driving on the shoulder, negligent driving, and failure to show registration.

Those folks who were caught texting were hit with an $83 ticket that can go up to as high a $160 with subsequent violations.

This was a smart move on the police’s part as too many people are killed because of someone’s decision to bury their heads in their phone instead of looking ahead while driving. Smart moves by the police are extremely rare, so kudos.
