Every town has certain streets that are riddled with potholes, and everyone hates those streets because they are a nuisance and can be downright dangerous. Manchester, England is apparently worse than most cities, with as many as 70 potholes on a half-mile stretch of road, and one guy is fed up and has decided to do something about it.
He goes by the name Wanksy (very clever), and his genius idea is to draw penises around the potholes to draw more attention to them. Here are a couple more examples like the one above:
The amazing part is, Wanksy’s efforts have seen almost immediate results. The Manchester Evening News reported that within 48 hours of Wanksy’s dick drawings, many of Manchester’s most problematic potholes, which had been ignored for years, were filled.
It should be noted that Wanksy’s drawings are not spray painted on, so they would wash away naturally after a week or two. But that’s not fast enough for Manchester city officials, who would rather fix the potholes right away to also cover up the penises.
The effectiveness of his technique has garnered a fan base in the U.S, too, as you can see from his Facebook page. Don’t be surprised if this catches on in a city near you soon, because when it comes to bringing attention to potholes, it’s like Wanksy said, “Nothing seemed to do this better than a giant comedy phallus.”
