Would-Be Robber Recognizes Clerk, Decides to Steal Elsewhere

It looks like we need to start introducing ourselves to as many criminals as possible.

According to Huffington Post, a Colorado man walked into a convenience store Tuesday afternoon and was going to rob the joint until he realized that he knew the clerk.

Police said the would-be robber walked into a Quick Save in Arvada but quickly recognized the clerk as someone he knew.

“(Expletive), I was going to rob this place but I know you,” the guy said to the clerk.

The man then asked the clerk if he knew who he was, and when the clerk said that he did not, he responded with “Good” and gave the clerk a thumbs up before driving away.

Police said a 7-Eleven on the same street was robbed a short while later by a man fitting a similar description. The part of the crook’s attire giving him away the most? You guessed it: His Ronald McDonald-esque red and yellow shoes.

Perhaps the most important lesson learned after reading this story is that anytime a masked criminal asks if you know him, the answer is “no.”
