Mr. Poo Aims to Get People in India to Stop Pooping in Public

If you think music in America these days is shit, wait until you go to India.

According to the new hit song “Take the Poo to the Loo,” the first thing people in India see in the morning when they step outside is – you guessed it – “a pile of shit.”

In an effort to curb public defecation, UNICEF India has created a new mascot named Mr. Poo, and he is encouraging both children and adults – which is beyond sad – to use a toilet the next time they have to drop a deuce. That’s because by their count, more than 620 million people in India don’t use a toilet, including 28 million children who don’t have facilities at their schools.

So, where do more than half of India’s population go to pinch a loaf? One UNICEF campaign coordinator told the Wall Street Journal that in India, “poo is all around us, in our playgrounds and outside our offices.”

More than 100,000 people have already pledged to start using toilets, but the “Take The Poo to the Loo” music video has only been viewed 15,000 times so far, and 15 of those views came from me watching it over and over while laughing hysterically.
