Yep, you heard right. Democracy has done its job once again and Streets have listened to the people; announcing that it is now selling a hybrid of two of Australia’s all-time greatest frozen snacks; the Golden Gaytime and the Cornetto – or as it will be forever known; the Gaynetto.
Earlier this year Sydney man Jesse James McElroy changed our lives forever when Streets approved his campaign to begin making Golden Gaytime ice cream in 1.25L tub form.
But he wasn’t finished, recently taking his love of the great Aussie classic ice cream to a new level, and pitching Streets the idea to make a Gaytime in the shape of a Cornetto.
A post by McElroy via the Golden Gaytime Facebook page yesterday confirmed that the Gaynetto now existed, showing a letter from Streets. Upon receiving the letter, McElroy went out in search of his newly birthed ice-cream love-children, and upon finding them he posted once again.
Speaking to Pedestrian TV, McElroy said “I didn’t know what to think when I got the letter, but I was so stoked and relieved when I actually walked into a servo near my place and saw one sitting in the freezer.” He continued, “I mean, how could they not make it? But until yesterday, I didn’t know it was going to happen. I’ve been running around like a headless chook, I’m so excited.”
