Create Your Own Furniture with Spyndi Magic Sticks

If you’ve got a creative eye and an instinctive habit of looking at chairs and thinking “I could make a better-looking chair than that,” then the Spyndi is the product for you.

The Spyndi looks to provide an easy way for DIY nuts to create their own furniture, allowing you to simply slide together a series of wooden blocks that eventually form to create a chair or a footstool. Inspired by the human spine, according to its creators the “magic sticks” of the Spyndi combine to create a surprisingly comfortable piece of furniture that can be shaped to directly align with the curvature of your back. Their solid wood design also means that they look rather nice, too.

Spyndi has proven to be a massive hit on crowdfunding site Kickstarter, having raised a whopping €110,862 compared to their initial goal of  €35,000. With the Kickstarter campaign having now concluded, you’re no longer able to pre-order it from the page, though its creators state that the estimated retail price of the Magic Sticks will be €1,650 ($1,830, £1420).

With an order of the Spyndi you’ll receive 60/75 pieces of handmade wood, which can each slot into one another in order to create a sturdy and flexible chair or foot stool. The shape that this furniture takes is up to you, with it able to create an upright dining or desk chair, a bench or even a sun lounger.

Considering that most furniture is flat-packed these days, the Spyndi is probably the easiest option when it comes to assembly, given that its entire design is based around its users deconstructing and then rebuilding it over and over again. The entire process of creating a chair using the wooden blocks looks incredibly easy, too, with it only requiring the user to slide them on top of one another, like so:
