One of the most amazing things about modern Seattle is that you can still feel the vibe and energy of the music scene that rattled the entire nation almost 30 years ago. From the heydays of Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and so many more, a very specific style aesthetic was born. It was all about looking effortless, and expending no effort in trying to do so.
Since its heyday, grunge has remained a near constant influence on fashion, from runways to retail, over the years inspiring designers like Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein, as well as innumerable streetwear brands. Today, many of these have absolutely mastered bringing the iconic Pacific Northwest, D-I-Y aesthetic, focusing on layerable pieces that are pre-worn, purposely faded and often over-sized.
