Apple Sends Out Invitations for Likely iPhone 6 Launch

Following the news that a leaked image had allegedly revealed the iPhone 6’s release date, Apple has now sent out invitations for that very same day, practically confirming that they will be unveiling the new iPhone on September 9th.

The invitations state that the unveiling will take place in the same Silicon Valley venue in which the late Steve Jobs revealed the first Mac computer 30 years ago. Many also suspect that Apple will use this opportunity to unveil their much-anticipated smartwatch, the company’s first foray into wearable tech.

In typically secretive fashion, the invitation reads “9.9.2014,” followed by “Wish we could say more.” However, given that the iPhone 6 has been pegged to launch around Q3/Q4 2014, it’s not that much of a stretch to guess that the company will be introducing us to the new smartphone.

With 2,300 seats in the venue, this event will boast a much larger audience than is typically seen at an Apple launch, though considering that the iPhone 6 looks set to mark a big change to Apple’s approach to smartphones, this isn’t a big surprise.

According to multiple sources the iPhone 6 will boast a much larger screen than its predecessors, as the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy series have changed consumer demand to big, thin, high-quality screens over smaller hardware.

We’ll have to wait and see what Apple has up its sleeve come September 9th, but given that they are finding their once unchallenged brand increasingly under threat by Android smartphones, rest assured that they will be looking to go all out with their next launch.
