Apple Releases its Cheapest iMac Ever

Apple has unveiled its cheapest iMac ever.

The 21.5-inch desktop is retailing at $1,099 (£899), with Apple releasing them onto the Apple Store with 24 hour shipping.

These new models of the iMac are now the lowest entry point for Apple’s OSX operating system, though they’re also obviously the most underpowered. The next iMac in the range features a 2.7 Ghz processor for $1,299, though this latest model only has a 1.4 Ghz processor. It also comes with 500GB of data (though add-ons are available to purchase from the Apple Store).

Speaking of the new model, Apple said: “Featuring a stunning ultra-thin design, brilliant display, Core i5 processors and the world’s most advanced operating system, the new iMac is the perfect entry-level Mac desktop.”
