The world’s premier international art show for modern and contemporary works, Art Basel descends on Miami this week for its 13th incarnation, a run of ancillary art shows and performances swarming Miami’s arts scene with a kaleidoscope of parties and associated events. A hub for exposure and development, galleries showcase work from masters of the craft as well as pieces by newly emerging stars.

Los Angeles based interior/exterior artist collective Blank Canvas LA is seizing the opportunity at Art Basel, building on over 20 years of design and painting experience with murals, workshops, live events, fine art canvases and more.
An internationally renowned graffiti artist raised in Venice, CA, Robert “Dytch66” Gomez is the creative director and lead artist in the Blank Canvas LA movement. Local natives will recognize his work from the sides buildings on Melrose Avenue between La Brea and Fairfax, among others, for over twenty years. His largest and most prominent recent project was a 400-foot by 120-foot mural at the Century City Mall in Beverly Hills,for the Natural History Museum and Discovery Channel.
Establishing an educated foundation of color theory and artistic approach and honing his craft across three decades, Dytch went from getting into trouble with his tagging as a kid to international recognition through his acrylic spray paint tactics as he’s developed his unique, abstract style. The name “Dytch” comes from painting murals along the freeways around Los Angeles, according to Gomez, while the “66” represents famed U.S. Rt. 66.
Gomez’s talents have placed him in a myriad of media involving TV, film, various video productions and beyond, with a deep archive of high-level commissions. All the while, he maintains a focus on community outreach by educating the public about Graffiti Art through teaching workshops and high school art classes.
