Ellen Pompeo admitted she had no prior connection with Taylor Swift before being cast in the singer’s “Bad Blood” music video, which came out in 2015. Speaking on The Jennifer Hudson Show on April 2, the Grey’s Anatomy star shared that Swift reached out to invite her back then, despite them never having met. She said, “And Taylor is such a good girl and I didn’t know her and she invited me to be in the video and I thought, ‘Oh that would be fun.’”
Pompeo agreed and was surprised by how simple and fast the filming process was. She said, “I went and did the video…it was the easiest thing, like an hour or two.” She later realized that her appearance in the video earned her major “points” with her daughters.
Beyond their brief collaboration, Pompeo shared how she later saw a more generous side of Swift. She and her husband, Chris Ivery, have long volunteered at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. They support a program that helps families of NICU babies. When the program needed financial support, Pompeo decided to ask Swift for help.
Even though they had only spent a short time together, Swift didn’t hesitate to contribute, immediately donating a significant amount. Pompeo said, “So I just got up the hooks and asked Taylor, ‘Could you write me a big old check for Children’s?’ and she knew me all but 20 minutes and that girl wrote me the biggest check without blinking an eye.”
