Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds could be skipping this year’s Met Gala, but it has nothing to do with the lawsuit drama, claims an exclusive source of TMZ. According to the insider, “the decision to pass on the May event was made way before that drama unfolded.”
While Blake Lively has been hailed as one of the best dressed stars of the event in the past decade, the Gossip Girl alum has not been attending the event consistently. The 37-year-old actress skipped the Met Gala in 2024 as well.
Speaking of the couple’s attendance at the Met Gala this year, another exclusive source told People, “Blake and Ryan haven’t gone since 2022 when they were co-chairs, and they will not be in attendance this year.”
The couple’s 2022 appearance remains one of the most talked-about fashion moments in Met Gala history. On the 2022 Met Gala red carpet, Lively stunned in an Atelier Versace gown featuring a reversible train. Accompanying her, Reynolds looked dashing in a velvet tuxedo and white bow tie.
The official theme of the 2025 Met Gala is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” Vogue reported previously. The event will take place on May 5. Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, along with LeBron James, will be the honorary co-chairs of the 2025 edition.
