Police procedural comedy-drama series Elsbeth serves as a spin-off of The Good Wife (2009–2016) and The Good Fight (2017–2022). It premiered on CBS on February 29, 2024, and revolves around Carrie Preston’s Elsbeth Tascioni, an unusual but extremely competent attorney who leaves behind her successful career in Chicago and moves to New York. There, she begins to work closely with the local police department. The series airs on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET, but there is no new episode this week. This has prompted fans to wonder what happened. Here’s everything fans need to know about the show’s break.
Here’s why a new episode of Elsbeth isn’t airing this week
Elsbeth is currently on a break due to the March Madness, which is another name for the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament.
Both the men’s and women’s NCAA Division I basketball tournaments began on Thursday, March 20, with CBS airing several of these games. Unfortunately for the fans of Elsbeth, the Primetime hour that the police procedural comedy-drama series occupies will now be allocated to March Madness. As stated above, Elsbeth generally airs on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET. However, this Thursday, the network instead aired the Arkansas vs. Kansas game at 7:10 pm ET and the St. John’s vs. Omaha game at 9:45 pm ET. So, if Elsbeth fans tuned into CBS after 10 pm ET, they saw the second game and not their favorite TV show.
When will the next episode of Elsbeth air on CBS?
Elsbeth Season 2 reportedly comprises 20 episodes in total. The 15th episode aired last week. This means when the series returns after the current hiatus, it will air Episode 15 of its sophomore season. Elsbeth Season 2 is scheduled to return on April 3, 2025, after a two-week break. Although March Madness concludes on April 7, Elsbeth is slated to come back four days before that and resume the story of the titular character.
