Who murdered A.B. Wynter in The Residence?
Lilly Schumacher, White House social secretary, is A.B. Wynter’s killer in The Residence. She killed him as he disrupted her plans to reinvent the White House and had evidence of her corrupt activities. To avoid him from exposing, she staged his murder.
Episode 8 focuses on Cordelia taking every suspect on a White House tour, pointing out clues, and hearing each of their stories. She learns about Lilly’s involvement when she tries to blame things on innocent lovers, Elsyie and Bruce. Lilly admits having sealed the Yellow Oval room to protect her suspected staff members. However, the reality was different; she sealed it to hide the clock she used to kill Wynter. Though Cordelia is misdirected several times during her investigation, she eventually gets the killer right. She also provides a detailed view of what led Lilly to commit this heinous crime and why she hated the place she worked.
How was A.B. Wynter killed by Lilly in The Residence?
The killer in The Residence, Lilly Schumacher, tore a page out of A.B. Wynter’s diary, which was close to a suicide note. She planned to make her murder appear that he took his own life. Schumacher initially spiked his drink, and when A.B. became aware, she made the final blow of killing him with a clock.
She framed his murder as she didn’t want him to expose her corrupt activities to the President, which could potentially lead to her being kicked out of The White House. After A.B.’s demise, she left the body at the crime scene and was clueless during the whole investigation about its whereabouts. Later, Cordelia reveals that it was A.B.’s brother, Tripp, who, in a drunken state, moved his body elsewhere in fear of being held responsible for his death.
