Here’s everything to know about West’s comments, his issues with “MUSIC”, and the reactions from Lamar, Carti, and fans.

Kanye West tweets about Kendrick Lamar

Kanye West took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his dislike for Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us”.

In a tweet, West wrote, “I HAAAAAATED ‘NOT LIKE US,” leaving no room for interpretation (via VIBE.) This statement follows West’s previous praise of Lamar for his role in defeating Drake in their rap feud. West has also criticized Lamar’s collaboration with Playboi Carti on the album “MUSIC”. “HOW IT LOOK FOR ME TO GET LEFT OFF THE ALBUM AND THEN HE ASK KIM TO HAVE VOCALS FROM MY DAUGHTER,” he tweeted, referencing Carti’s public interest in featuring North West on a song.

West had previously supported Playboi Carti and co-produced a song on “MUSIC”. Before the album’s release, he called Carti a “don,” but now there appears to be tension between them. West tweeted, “I DECIDED NORTH WONT BE DOING ANY SONGS WITH CARTI,” in response to Carti’s comments. He also took issue with reference to Kim Kardashian in “MUSIC”, stating, “HOW ITS A SKIMS LINE IN THE FIRST PLACE,” while asserting, “I DONT GIVE A F**K WHAT NO COMMENTS THE MAN HAS THE FIRST AND FINAL SAY OVER HIS KIDS.”*

West’s remarks about Lamar contrast with previous comments he made in an interview with Justin Laboy. “If you rap against Kendrick, you will lose. This man does this,” West said. However, he also claimed he could challenge Lamar due to his own abilities. “I’m a psycho genius, so you know, it could be.” He compared Lamar’s lyrical skill to a move in “Street Fighter”, saying, “You get Chun-Li, you get a certain kick, and no matter what, you can’t beat that thing.” (via Billboard)

West also spoke about Drake’s contributions to hip-hop, stating that he added “something to the algorithm to our frequency. He advanced us. Future advanced us and now Kendrick advanced the frequency.”
