NASCAR Cup Series star Josh Berry recently revealed he listened to Taylor Swift before she became famous. The 34-year-old racer shared this surprising connection, unknown to many fans of both the stock car driver and pop star.
Are Taylor Swift and Josh Berry connected?
Josh Berry and Taylor Swift attended the same school. The duo were students of Tennessee’s Hendersonville High School. Swift was a senior of Berry, but the 34-year-old recalled seeing the “London Boy” crooner perform at the high school.
Speaking of Swift’s high school performance, Berry told The Athletic’s Jeff Gluck, “We were like, ‘Dang, she’s alright! You know how talent shows are; they’re hit or miss. But it was like, ‘Damn, that was pretty good!’”
The 2023 NASCAR All-Star Race Open winner further revealed that Swift participated in the high school talent show that took place before the end of the school year. He also remembered the summer when Swift moved to Nashville and eventually started gaining recognition. Berry did not get the yearbook that the Grammy-winning singer had signed. He quipped, “I would have already sold it by now” (via The Athletic).
Swift had to change schools quite a few times due to her family moving. The 35-year-old pop legend attended Wyomissing Area Junior/Senior High School as a teenager. To pursue her artistic interests, she also performed at the Berks Youth Theatre Academy productions. Later, Swift attended Hendersonville High School when she was 14 years old.
After starting her professional music journey, Swift moved to Aaron Academy, which accommodates home schooling. She graduated a year early from the academy. After receiving her high school diploma, she told the the Associated Press, “I never expected that my senior year would go the way it has. There’s something really exciting about getting to live your dream and continue your education at the same time.”
Swift reportedly maintained an excellent academic record throughout her high school years. She had a 4.0 average when she was homeschooled during her junior and senior years. Additionally, she managed to finish course work for both the junior and senior years in 12 months.
From her teen days of fandom, the singer expressed her earnest request to be sincere about her career. A 19-year-old Swift once told Rolling Stone, “I always want to be responsible for the things I say and do. Also, I would have a problem lying to my parents about that.”
