Millie Bobby Brown Slams Tabloids Saying ‘She Looks 40’

Millie Bobby Brown has addressed the tabloid criticism that seems to have followed her for a long time, particularly comments about her appearance and comments that she looks like she’s 40 years old. The Stranger Things star recently appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she talked about the media scrutiny and their remarks about her looking older than her age.

Here’s what Brown said.

Millie Bobby Brown responds to face criticism

Recently, Millie Bobby Brown responded to tabloids criticizing her appearance, specifically the remark that she looks 40.

She told Call Her Daddy host, Alex Cooper, how the media manages to find things about her to scrutinize, including her accent and how old she looks. The 21-year-old actress shared, “A thing that I get a lot is like, ‘Oh my God, she looks like 40.’ And I’m like, well yeah, you did meet me when I was 10, so I understand. Now I’m 21, it’s been 10 years. She grows. My face like, grew. What do you want me to do about that?”

Brown also admitted to embracing the changes after initially trying to alter herself to please others. She added, “I wish I could be like, ‘You know what, it does get to me.’ It used to get to me, it did … And I remember trying to change myself to please the masses. And actually now, I’m in a place where, yeah, my accent does change. My face does grow. I do wear a lot of makeup. It’s just the kind of person I am.”

Earlier this month, Brown took a bold stance for herself by calling out the media for “bullying” her. The Damsel star took to Instagram on March 4 and shared specific headlines that targeted her looks with harsh words. A seemingly disappointed Brown stated, “I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people can’t seem to grow up with me.”

Brown also questioned how “adult writers are spending their time dissecting my face, my body, my choices,” and called it “disturbing.” Instead of submitting to the constant pressure of beauty standards, Brown seemed defiant in her opinion. She went on to say, “I refuse to apologize for growing up. I refuse to make myself smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman.”
