Travel influencer Maria Eftimova tragically passed away on February 22 after falling approximately 65 feet while climbing Tryfan mountain in Snowdonia, Wales. The 28-year-old was originally from Bulgaria, according to BBC. Other climbers and rescue teams reportedly attempted to save her, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Following her passing, tributes poured in from friends and loved ones. Her best friend, Megan Griffiths, described Eftimova as a “one-of-a-kind person.” She added, “Her tragic loss will be felt by so many, and we are absolutely devastated to lose such a precious friend.” Another close friend, Victoria Critchley, said, “Maria was an ambitious, bright and cherished, whose vibrant personality, energy and aura touched and uplifted all around her.” Critchley also highlighted Eftimova’s passion for engineering and extreme sports.
Originally from Bulgaria, Eftimova studied civil engineering at the University of Salford. Her sudden passing has left her family devastated, and they faced the financial challenges of bringing her back home for a final farewell, Critchley revealed.
Eftimova’s death is the second fatal incident in Eryri National Park in less than two weeks. On February 16, another climber lost her life after slipping on Glyder Fach mountain. The Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation expressed condolences to the families of both victims and thanked those who tried to help.
