Bodybuilder Jodi Vance Passes Away at 20

Reports are making rounds about the shocking death of bodybuilder Jodi Vance, and people want to know the truth behind the same. She was a prominent fitness enthusiast, who came third in the Women’s Physique division in the 2024 NPC Battle of Texas not too long ago. Vance also used her social media pages to showcase her journey as a bodybuilder.

So, here is everything we’ve gathered about the details surrounding Vance’s untimely demise.

Jodi Vance cause of death explained

The 20-year-old female bodybuilder’s family took to her Instagram page in late February 2025 to announce her death.

The caption of the Instagram post reads, “For those that haven’t heard yet, Jodi passed away yesterday afternoon.” It explained that Vance suffered from severe dehydration, which led to issues with her heart.

“Her heart stopped due to complications of severe dehydration,” the statement continued. “Despite all efforts by the hospital, they were unable to revive her. She was a beautiful person inside and out and she will be missed every single day.”

The post states that Jodi Vance’s death “was sudden and unexpected.” Moreover, it urges the people to “give her family time to process this loss in peace.” It concluded with the following advice: “If anyone takes anything from this, please put your heath [health] first.”

Meanwhile, Vance’s coach Justin Mihaly shared a video message on Instagram about her death. In the caption, he also mentioned that he had the consent of her mother, Jenny. Mihaly claimed in the lengthy clip that Vance made a “serious error” by using “two extremely hazardous substances” to enhance her physique and he didn’t know anything about it.

“Jodi made a serious error,” Mihaly explained. “Jodi used two extremely hazardous substances to improve her physique — I assume just for the Arnold Expo — without my knowledge, my approval, without family’s knowledge, their approval. … There is no reason that she should have been dehydrating.”

In the video, Justin Mihaly also stated people were welcome ” to direct” their blame towards him if that was how they thought “we can best honor Jodi” and that he and Jenny intended to launch “more advocacy and action around this” in the future.

Notably, per TMZ Sports, Jodi Vance was at the Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio to serve as a coach for others and not to compete herself.
