Stephen Colbert didn’t hold back when addressing Donald Trump’s latest speech. During The Late Show’s live broadcast, Colbert mocked both Trump’s statements and the reactions from those in attendance. Now, many are eager to know what exactly Colbert said.

Here are more details about Colbert’s criticism of Trump’s address.

Stephen Colbert comments on Donald Trump’s speech

During a live broadcast of The Late Show, Stephen Colbert took aim at Donald Trump’s recent two-hour congressional speech.

Mocking its theme, The Renewal of the American Dream, Colbert said, “The theme of tonight’s speech was ‘The renewal of the American Dream.’ Yeah, I don’t know if I want to sign up for the renewal. Can’t I just use a different email to get another free trial?”

The episode opened with a satirical Animaniacs-style song, titled “The Maga Maniacs,” featuring animated versions of Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and House Speaker Mike Johnson. The parody mocked various political moves, from firing federal workers to rolling back diversity programs. Colbert also addressed the incident involving Texas Congressman Al Green, who was removed from the session after interrupting Trump. He sarcastically noted that security used extra force because Green had “smuggled in a spine.”

Throughout his monologue, Colbert criticized Trump’s talking points. He wrapped up the segment with an apology to viewers for making them watch the speech. Colbert said, “So, there you go. Another 2 hours we’ll never get back.” He further added, “In the end, Trump’s first address to Congress was much like his first six weeks: Filled with useful lies, and applauded by useless idiots.”

Stephen Colbert also took aim at Democrats during his monologue. He joked about their choice of fuchsia outfits and said, “It’s the kind of bold protest that says, ‘This is a test print and your magenta cartridge is working.’” Colbert also poked fun at their reaction to Trump’s speech, suggesting that while he made shocking claims, their response felt weak and ineffective.
