Black Clover Season 5: Is There a Release Date or Is the Anime Over?

Anime fans have been eagerly awaiting news about the Black Clover Season 5 release date since the last episode aired in March 2021. With the release of the 2023 movie Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King and the manga in its final arc, speculation about the anime’s return has reached a fever pitch. So, could Season 5 finally be on the horizon, or is Black Clover over?

Could Black Clover Season 5 happen or has the anime ended?

While there has been no official confirmation about Black Clover Season 5’s release date, there is a strong possibility that the anime will return for its next installment.

With around 97 manga chapters available since Season 4, there is plenty of content for a potential Season 5. If the anime picks up production soon, fans could expect Black Clover Season 5’s release date as early as late 2025 or early 2026.

Furthermore, fans are hoping that the anime’s continuation could be revealed at AnimeJapan 2025, set to be held between March 22 and March 25. This event has historically been a major platform for announcing upcoming anime projects, and with Black Clover celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025, the timing could not be better.

The main reason for the anime’s hiatus seems to be that Season 4 caught up with the manga. As a result, there was a long wait for new content to adapt. Thankfully, the manga is now in its final arc, providing ample material for the anime’s continuation.

However, Black Clover fans also face another obstacle: Studio Pierrot, the studio responsible for the anime, has been busy working on Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. With the final season of Bleach expected in 2025, it’s unclear when Pierrot will shift its focus to Black Clover or other ongoing projects like Boruto. If Black Clover Season 5 does get the green light, it will likely cover the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc, adapting manga chapters 272-331.
