While reading viewers’ comments, Rexha came across an offensive remark regarding her weight, causing the singer to respond. With her reaction gaining much attention on the internet, the award-winning pop star has now shared a video addressing the incident as well as the conversation surrounding her health.
Bebe Rexha responds to body-shaming comments
Taking to Instagram, Bebe Rexha spoke about her visit to Dubai before referring to the viral video of her reply to a user pointing out the change in her physical appearance. While conducting a live stream in Dubai, Rexha read out a comment that stated that she now looks “like Marilyn Monroe after she ate Lizzo.” An unfazed Rexha wasted no time in shutting the viewer down, noting, “Honestly, who cares? That’s a f—— hater, like, who’s bored with their life.”
After thanking fans for showing support in her recent Instagram Story, Rexha provided a clarification about her situation in what seemed to be a direct response to the body-shaming comments she encountered earlier. “Number one, I am unbothered. Number two, I’m very aware of everything. I know I gained weight. I know that I’ve been through a lot,” she stated, (via PEOPLE).
Nevertheless, Rexha showcased positivity in dealing with the criticism and body-shaming remarks, noting, “I know that people know my songs but don’t know me, and I haven’t gotten the recognition I’ve deserved. But instead of letting that all break me down, it’s actually made me feel more powerful.”
The pop star continued, “I’ve been working on new music, and I’ve been putting it into my music.” The singer concluded by reassuring her fans, saying, “I promise you I feel stronger than ever. And I love you.”
