No, MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart Is Not Leaving After Shakeup

Many viewers are wondering if Jonathan Capehart is leaving MSNBC after the network’s recent programming shakeup. The Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and political analyst hosted The Saturday Show and The Sunday Show, where he provided insightful commentary on key issues across America. However, the cancellation of his weekend programs has left fans wondering about his future with the network.

So, here’s all you need to know about Capehart’s next role at MSNBC.

Could Jonathan Capehart leave MSNBC after canceled Saturday and Sunday shows?

Despite speculation, Jonathan Capehart is not leaving MSNBC following the cancellation of The Saturday and The Sunday Show.

As part of a broader restructuring, MSNBC made significant programming changes, which saw The Saturday Show and The Sunday Show getting canceled. However, the renowned host will continue to stay on the network, bringing his political prowess to The Weekend Show.

The current show’s trio, Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez, will be shifted to host a brand-new news program. They will take up the 7:00 pm ET slot on weekdays, previously occupied by The ReidOut. The programming will air for two hours on Mondays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

MSNBC is committed to introducing a new set of trios for The Weekend, which will now have two editions: morning and evening. Each slot will be hosted by a different group of anchors. Capehart is set to join The Weekend’s morning roster, premiering at 7 a.m. ET. In addition, there will be an increase in live programming by 2 hours on weekends.

MSNBC host Ayman Mohyeldin is set to take on The Weekend’s evening slot with other unannounced hosts. On the other hand, Ali Velshi, host of Velshi, which runs every weekend, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., will get extended by an hour. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

MSNBC’s shakeup follows the appointment of Rebecca Kutler, former CNN Senior Vice President, as the network’s new president after Rashida Jones’ departure. Under her leadership, the network is undergoing significant modifications, with current anchor shakeups being a part of it.
