Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid recently spoke out in defense of Taylor Swift, praising her for how she handled a less-than-welcoming moment during the 2025 Super Bowl. Here’s what happened at the event, what Reid had to say about it, and more.
Andy Reid supports Taylor Swift weeks after Super Bowl incident
During an appearance on NBC’s ProFootballTalk, Andy Reid opened up about the moment Taylor Swift was met with boos from sections of the stadium. “She’s a good girl, she handles that whole thing the right way, that’s a tough deal,” Reid said. “But she does a great job of handling it. Kelce, I think, does a great job of handling it… She’s part of the team.”
The moment in question occurred when the Jumbotron at the Super Bowl panned to Swift, who was seated next to her friend and collaborator, Ice Spice. While the camera highlighted the star-studded audience, a chorus of boos erupted from sections of the stadium, likely from Philadelphia Eagles fans. Swift responded with a side-eye, a wince, and a smile, brushing off the surprising chorus. “What’s going on?” she was seen saying before resuming to watch the game.
However, that’s not all. Reid also shared the advice he gave to Travis Kelce amid swirling retirement rumors, saying, “Don’t think about all that. Just… relax, man. Chill down, we have time for that.”
Since first appearing at a Chiefs game in September 2023, Swift has become a regular supporter of Kelce and his team. Reid has previously expressed his admiration for the pop icon, telling PEOPLE in an interview in December 2023, “Listen, I’m a big fan so I’m glad she was here, and I hope she enjoyed it. She’s got a great guy she’s dating right now, so I’m happy for both of them.”
