Tina Knowles Explains Why She Doesn’t Give Granddaughter Blue Ivy Any Advice

Renowned fashion icon and singer Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, recently said she doesn’t give any career advice to her granddaughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Rapper Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy, is making a mark for herself in the industry with her recent ventures such as Mufasa: The Lion King, wherein she voices the character of Princess Kiara.

Tina Knowles talks about Blue Ivy and why she doesn’t give her advice

Tina Knowles recently appeared on The Jennifer Hudson show, where she spoke about her granddaughter Blue Ivy and her recent achievements. Knowles described her as “a bossy little Capricon like her grandma.”

When asked whether she gives any advice to her granddaughter, Knowles said, “Actually her mother (Beyoncé) gives her advice. Her and her mother are really tight and so they don’t need me to give much advice. They tell me to mind my business.”

The host also asked Knowles if she believed Blue Ivy would be like her mother in the future. To this, Knowles replied, “I don’t know. She’s a jack of all trades, as my mom would say, and she can do so many things. We don’t know ’cause she’s only 13.”

During the interaction, Knowles also shared that she was surprised by Beyoncé’s country album win at the 2025 Grammy Awards and said she’s proud of her other daughter Solange

In May 2024, while speaking on Vogue‘s The Run Through podcast, Knowles revealed that Beyoncé once advised Blue Ivy on how to deal with negative comments after her performance alongside her mother on the Renaissance tour. She said, “It was a great life lesson because her mom basically said, ‘Listen, if you let this get you down, then they won. So you should go and work harder” (via Billboard).
