“There’s a whole history of that kind of singer in America: the pop teenage trivia thing,” Lydon said in an interview with NME. He then criticized her music, describing it as “elaborate,” and argued that she was trapped in a situation where she did not want to offend her fans, saying it was “daft.”
Lydon also questioned the direction of Swift’s career, stating that she had “no place to go” and mocking her style as a “swishy ballroom-gown vibe.” The former Sex Pistols vocalist then suggested that her career would only lead to her ending up in Vegas. “Because that’s the only place left and that’s no future at all, is it?,” he added.
