Stephen King Returns to X, Posts About Donald Trump & Elon Musk

Stephen King has made an unexpected return to X (formerly Twitter) after previously announcing his departure from the platform. The bestselling author, who has always been outspoken about his political views, quickly turned his attention to Donald Trump and Elon Musk in his first posts back. His sudden return has stirred conversations on social media, with many wondering what led him to rejoin the platform.

Stephen King has made an unexpected return to X after quitting the platform three months ago. The bestselling author had previously announced his departure from X in November 2024.

King was frustrated by what he described as an increasingly “toxic” environment following Donald Trump’s re-election. Since then, he had been active on Bluesky, frequently criticizing both Trump and Elon Musk.

On February 20, King reappeared on X with a simple message: “I’m baaaack! Did you miss me?” Moments later, he took direct aim at the former president and the platform’s owner. He wrote, “Just wanted to say that Trump is a traitorous, Putin-loving d——! Goes double for Elon!” His return comes as tensions rise between the U.S. and Ukraine, with Musk drawing criticism over recent remarks about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

During his time on Bluesky, King didn’t hold back in his criticism of Musk, even suggesting the billionaire was helping Trump’s political agenda. Just days before rejoining X, he accused both men of “ignoring” the U.S. Constitution.

Coincidentally, his comeback aligns with the release of The Monkey, a horror film based on his short story. However, King has yet to promote the movie on X, focusing instead on politics. It remains to be seen whether this marks the acclaimed author’s permanent return to the social media platform.
