A resurfaced interview with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni has sparked new speculation about Taylor Swift’s potential behind-the-scenes role in the film. While Swift’s involvement was thought to be limited, Baldoni’s comments suggest she may have played a part in casting decisions.
Here is what Baldoni said.
Justin Baldoni revealed Taylor Swift was part of casting procedure
A resurfaced interview with Justin Baldoni suggests Taylor Swift had a bigger role in It Ends With Us than previously acknowledged. The film’s director revealed that Swift was involved in the casting process of actress Isabela Ferrer, who plays a younger version of Blake Lively’s character Lily Bloom.
In a past Access Hollywood interview, Baldoni mentioned that he shared Ferrer’s audition tape with both Lively and Swift. According to him, the duo immediately approved it. Baldoni said, “I had actually brought in and showed her casting tape to Blake and Taylor and they were both, like, ‘Yes! Her.’” Ferrer later confirmed in a separate interview that Swift’s input influenced her casting. In an interview with Extra, the actress said, “Yeah, she was a helpful part of the process of the audition, which I found out later after I got it and that rocked my world…I have no words.”
Beyond casting decisions, Lively revealed that Swift was also involved in selecting music for the film. She personally sought permission from Swift to use her song “My Tears Ricochet.” In an interview with CBS Mornings, Lively said, “I think that, for better or worse, she experienced the whole thing with me”
Previously, multiple reports claim that Swift has been trying to distance herself from the ongoing legal battle between Baldoni and Lively. In January, Baldoni referenced Swift in his lawsuit against Lively, fueling speculation about her deeper involvement in the film. As per the recent Page Six report, Swift is feeling “used” by her longtime friend Lively. She is uncomfortable with how her name has been brought into the dispute and has chosen to step back from the situation, according to the report.
